The chord symbol above the diagram

Above the grid usually stands the name of the shape — the chord symbol. The letter is the root (A…G, B not H). Suffixes change the colour: m minor, 7 / maj7 / m7 the seventh variants, sus2 / sus4 the resolved third, add9 an added note, dim / ° diminished, aug / + augmented. A slash like G/B means "a G chord, but the lowest note is a B." You don't need the theory behind it to read the symbol as a name tag.
