What comes first — and why
Guitar isn't learned in a straight line, and FretmAIt prescribes no path: no course from lesson 1 to 60, no lessons, no sign-up that steers you through. That's a teacher's job — and a teacher remains the best choice where one is available. What this page does is honestly name the order in which things sensibly come, and provide the tools you practice each step with.
The order isn't made up; it's teacher consensus. First the basics that lie beneath everything — posture, tuning, the first hand. Then the first open chords: the eight that unlock most songs (A D E Am Dm Em C G) — not an arbitrary pick, but what teacher consensus and the chords of actual songs both come down to; the tool "Get to know chords" teaches each one individually. Then the practical skills that otherwise get in the way: clean changing, capo. Each step builds on the one before — in the same order experienced teachers build them. What FretmAIt provides isn't the path but the practice tool for each of these skills, and the reference works alongside.
